Once upon a time
They say that Masseria Corda di Lana has ancient origins, as it dates back from the medieval era, i.e. the 15th century. In that time it was called “La Storta” as for the form of the route it rose from, a warped one.
Some news however is collected in a document from 1717 .It was a work place with huts for the animals, straw, troughs and lime walls, the goods store, the farmer’s house, the oven for cooking the bread, the well and the tank. The name “Corda di lana” derives from the later production of wood objects which were made there. It had many owners and was abandoned in a decline state for long time, before being brought to magnificence in 1857 thanks to the Prince of Belmonte Angelo Granito and then to his nephew Francesco Del Balzo.
